Drone permits in Copenhagen — how it works.
Drone operations in Copenhagen city centre and around major venues require permits from Trafikstyrelsen (the Danish Transport Authority). We handle the entire permit process on your behalf — but lead time matters. Last-minute drone bookings in restricted zones are not possible.

Are you certified drone pilots?
Yes — we hold EU Open Category A1/A3 and A2 certificates, registered with Trafikstyrelsen under registration DNK000004512282f. The A2 licence covers closer-to-people operations and more complex environments — including the Kastrup buffer zone exception applicable to areas around Copenhagen. Most drone operators in Denmark hold A1/A3 only. All drone operations are fully insured for commercial use across Denmark and Europe.
What does the A2 certificate allow you to do that others cannot?
The A2 certificate is an advanced commercial drone licence that permits operations closer to uninvolved people, in more complex environments, and covers specific buffer zones including the area around Kastrup Airport. This means we can legally fly in locations and scenarios that A1/A3-only operators cannot — including closer proximity to crowds at events, more urban environments and certain restricted zones. It is a meaningful differentiator for commercial production work in Copenhagen.
Do you need a permit to fly a drone in Copenhagen?
It depends on the location. Many areas outside the city centre can be flown under standard Open Category rules with no additional permit. For Copenhagen city centre, restricted airspace, major venues like Bella Center, and events with large crowds — a specific permit from Trafikstyrelsen is required. We handle all permit applications on your behalf. For restricted zones, allow a minimum of 30 days lead time. The Nyhavn and canal area does not require a Trafikstyrelsen application under our A2 certification — contact us to confirm requirements for your specific location.
What is FPV drone and how is it different from regular drone filming?
FPV (First Person View) drone flying uses a smaller, more agile drone with a camera that streams live footage to goggles worn by the pilot. This allows extremely dynamic, immersive camera movements — flying through venues, tracking fast-moving subjects, moving through tight spaces — that a standard cinematic drone cannot replicate. FPV is ideal for brand activations, events, sports and venue fly-throughs. We have used FPV for Red Bull productions, Cannes Lions and events across Copenhagen and internationally.
Can you combine drone with ground camera production?
Yes — and this is how we recommend using it. Drone footage is most effective when it complements ground-level camera work rather than being the entire production. We regularly combine cinematic aerial, FPV and standard ground cameras in one production day — one crew, one shoot, consistent visual style throughout. No need to coordinate separate vendors.
Can drone be used for live events and broadcast productions?
Yes — we have integrated drone footage into live event productions and broadcast setups. For live streaming events, drone provides dynamic establishing shots and venue reveals that feed directly into the broadcast stream. Coordination with the venue AV team and event operations is required — we handle this as part of pre-production planning. FPV drone can also be used for live broadcast when the right setup is in place.
What drone equipment do you use?
We use professional-grade cinema drones shooting in 4K — selected based on the specific requirements of each production. For FPV we use purpose-built racing-style drones with broadcast-quality cameras. All equipment is maintained, insured and carries full backup on every shoot.
How far in advance should I book drone filming in Copenhagen?
For standard locations outside restricted zones — as little as a few days notice is possible. For Copenhagen city centre, Bella Center, Copenhagen Airport buffer zone and similar restricted locations — minimum 30 days advance notice to allow for permit processing. We always advise booking as early as possible. Contact us and we will confirm what is needed for your specific location within 24 hours.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable for drone flying?
Drone operations are weather dependent — wind speed, rain and visibility all affect flight safety and footage quality. We monitor conditions in advance and communicate early if conditions may be an issue. For productions where drone is essential, we build a weather contingency into the schedule. Safety always takes priority and we will never fly in unsafe conditions regardless of deadline pressure.
How quickly is drone footage delivered?
Drone footage delivered as part of a larger production follows our standard 3–7 business day turnaround. For drone-only shoots where raw footage is the primary deliverable, we can deliver faster. Same-day rough selects are available for urgent productions. Express turnaround available on request.
Do you fly drone outside Copenhagen?
Yes — we operate across Denmark and travel internationally for productions when needed. We have filmed aerially in Copenhagen, around the harbour, at Bella Center, Copenhagen Airport and across Jutland and the Danish islands. International drone productions require advance planning for local regulations and permits — contact us early and we will confirm what is needed.
